School-based intensive day treatment serves children with behavioral, emotional, and/or learning problems who can stay in their public school, but need more intense mental health services. Northwood Children’s Services offers four school-based intensive day treatment programs in the following schools: Piedmont Elementary, Laura MacArthur Elementary, Myer’s Wilkins Elementary, and Lincoln Park Middle School.
Program Overview
Students in this program receive intensive mental health treatment in their home school building five days a week during school hours. Each child has an individualized treatment plan developed by a multidisciplinary team comprised of educational staff, Northwood staff, referring workers, the student, and their family. The team also includes mental health practitioners and a mental health professional.
