Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility | Northwood Children's Services

Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility

Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is a highly structured, nonhospital-based treatment setting for children and adolescents who are experiencing significant difficulty as a result of a serious emotional disturbance and are in need of a more intensive setting.

The comprehensive treatment team is located at our West Campus and led by a child/adolescent psychiatrist who oversees each child’s treatment along with a licensed psychologist, psychiatric social worker, a licensed therapist, registered nurse, and counselors.  Treatment is delivered at a 1-staff to 3-student ratio with individual therapy sessions twice per week and group therapy sessions weekly. Family engagement is critical requiring weekly contact and twice monthly family therapy sessions.

Program Components

  • Psychiatric consultation
  • Individual, group, and family therapy
