With heavy hearts we share the news of Tony Makela’s death. Tony was a beloved counselor on the Bears team at our Main Campus. He was easy to find because he was always playing soccer with the kids. His team loves him and as a Northwood family we’re grieving the loss together. He will be very missed, especially by the kids he took care of.
The family has asked that donations in his memory be sent to Northwood. We have partnered with the Lake Superior College Foundation to start the Tony Makela Memorial Fund. 100% of funds raised for the Tony Makela Memorial Fund will be used towards scholarships for youth. We hope this helps continue Tony’s work and passion towards serving others, especially our community’s youth.
